Recently I saw a Linkedin question that was very relevant to Start ups specially prior to launching their CrowdFunding campaign . Maria wrote : Hello, I am quite new in the SEO world, I am running a startup with my husband, I am wondering if you can give me any advance to get a higher page rank! Thank you! I saw many good comments ( see attached ) . Ok, a good question. I am a SEO researcher . I get calls to my office ( inbound call ) from people and agenccies that want to do SEO for us . My 1st question is what city they are in and then does their name or website are on 1st page of Google (1st to 3rd positions) ? If not , I ask them to go back and do their own homework first . I also ask them why they use the phone ( outbound ) to sell " internet marketing" ( in bound ) .. That is kind of an oxymoron. Professional SEO companies send me report about all the problems with my websites , they call it wordy , not good structure and confusing . In reality many of our websites are on the 1st page of Google for our to 20 key phrases. In Reality , we get 5 to 10 leads a day that about 20% turn to be business ( Conversion = Click to $ ) . We also see avrage time spent on our site is 5 minues .. Then either they are missing somthing or we are extremly lucky . Try Crowd Funding consulting , Crowd Funding consultant , Crowd Funding mentors, CrowdFunding coaches, CrowdFunding conference or CrowdFunding planning ..... You see our webportal that has to do with CrowdFunding conulting and CrowdFunding help http://goo.gl/gdoyA --- These are what we recommend . It works but it requires energy and research ; no short cuts 1- Use Google Fabric to build your website . ( Google Sites ) - Google likes Google 2- This way your data is in Google's data centers and you can update without uploading and downloading 3- There is no cost to using Google sites 4- To us Google ranking is all about Content, Content and high quality content 5- Do your research and find all relevant keywords and phrases. Make sure you get relevant information on daily bases based on these keywords. Blog them at the start but within 6 months you can generate your own Original content since 6 months of relevant reading make you a relevant expert and a blogger . 6- Read the comments listed and experiment with them . Make sure you back link all the relevant key phrases to your pages . This way you offer valuable information and train Google Bot to understand your website and pages are about your Key phases. Then go out bound and register to as many as Relevant social media marketing as you can and also Join as many Relevant online communities . For the 1st, six (6 ) months just, say hello ( Likes, +1, ...etc. ) , the start publishing your original blogs into your own community and comment on others . Be friendly and informative . Try to be part of the solution . Remember the golden rule or the secret => Power = ( Knowledge ) ^ shared ( ^ = to the power of ). The more relevant knowledge you share to more Friends and trust ( Likes ) you get . As you practice here,”expert source” your questions . You never know , you might run to people that like to share . Last but the most important point . SEO starts with an “S” . You need to master the knowledge of search in order to be able to optimize it . Learn as much as you can . Following link contain 260 pages of search tips and it is an internal document of NSA ( national Security agency ) that was published and shared with public two weeks ago . Read it , then read it again . For the NSA Search document just type NSA on the above search and click on the result . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rajnish sharma • Welcome Maria Tina Holtz • Maria, I agree with Rajnish that quality content is most important. I can refer a great book for you The Zen of Social Media Marketing by Shama Hyder Kabani. She goes through wonderful techniques that can help you. I would first recommend that you do a keyword search with google for keywords that pertain to your industry and then ensure that you have those keywords in the content as well. John Scott • Hi Maria, María Cascante • Hello!! Paul Firestine • You have lots of potential just need some content on there and focus on the key on-page touch points. I would say w/ that type of site growing the traffic is going to be the key to long term success. I would suggest picking up your social pages if you haven't already b/c I don't see any links to them from your website. Tony Burt • Two issues you might consider. Mark Kithcart • SEO is one slice of the traffic pie (search & PPC traffic), Social Media is another slice, Channel partner opportunities another etc. This is a body of knowledge that in many cases depends on your goals and your target market. Rakesh Ojha • @ Maria I'd recommend focusing on bringing in quality traffic and conversions as PR won't have any effect on your business directly. María Cascante • Thank you all for your advice! I will have all of this in mind. Have a great weekend!! John Clarke • Maria, you have several people giving you good advise, read them carefully and ask questions on items you don't understand. You will hear many different opinions and in time you will have your own. SEO is not just a science, there's what some would consider an artist aspect also. John Furlong • Try to get some links from Game news sites and aggregators. That will get you pre-qualified traffic. Also see if you can get links up at BoardGameGeek.com Steve Link • I am also interested in enhancing my search ranking and appreciate all of the advice. I have started seo-semarketing and trying to soak up additional knowledge to enhance my capabilities. John Clarke • Steve, I ran you website on my SEO tool http://www.seowebpage.info/ and noticed some things: Peter Nguyen • I highly recommend you to work with an Internet marking consultant who understands design, SEO, copywriting, social media marketing, conversion optimization, and paid advertising. María Cascante • John Clarke, thank you for your comment, I have used your SEO tool and found very interesting information that I can use to improve our website. Manish Agarwal • Checked your website and found: Alejandro Buendia • Maria, it might take you some time to get up to speed. I would suggest that since time might be of the essence, you start with an expert while you learn the ropes. What kind of biz are you launching? María Cascante • Alejandro, we have launched a chess website, chessheroes.com Rajnish sharma • k congratulation Jose Barrios • I have been in your position owning a commercial cleaning business. Keeping it affordable... Highly recommend you hire someone (SEO company) to make sure your websites "backend" is agreeable for google and web crawlers. Also have them research the key words you should focus on. Start a blog on the topic and you should see your rankings greatly improve. You can do much more SEO but the above is the fundamentals find a SEO company that is willing to teach you the critical parts you need and just as importantly can afford. Alexandra Shkalikova • Congratulations on your startup! As everyone's already said, you need content that is valuable to people. However this alone rarely brings in top rankings (unless you're probably Wikipedia). In a few words, the steps would be: kevin Bunn • When i started my business in 2007 i did not know where to start regarding SEO , so my advise would be to shop around and find yourself a good company to manage your advertising, people used to say to me "you should do it yourself its easy" but its only easy if your in front of a computer all day long, personally i have to be on site wining work. "Good Luck Maria " ! Rakesh Ojha • Being a start up your focus should be on your business and how to grow. Initially your business requires a push and if you were to hire a SEO agency, it would give you that push. Sarah Bernier • Congrats, Maria! My husband and I are doing the same thing (started about a year and a half ago). What's your website? peter ogilvie • If you want to understand how it all works then (as other have said) read chapter by chapter of the http://www.seoinpractive.com online book - it will detail all you need to know. Martin Miller • First decision needs to be how involved you want to be in improving your sites page rank. If SEO isn't your main area of expertise then why would you even think about covering it yourself. I never work on my car, I've never spent years learning how to, I just stick it in the garage when it needs servicing. María Cascante • Wooww!! Thank you very much to all of you to for the great advises! I really appreciate your help!! John Clarke • Maria, there's a lot of good information here and some are recommending services that they provide. María Cascante • Thank you John! Sarah Bernier • Chess! That's awesome! I tell people I used to think I was good at chess Chad VanCalster • I haven't read all the replies, but I've been doing SEO since the 90's and I can tell you we haven't seen a shift as big as what's happening now. Pavan Pratap Singh • Dear Maria, Congrats for new start up. Doing SEO starts with making a SEO friendly website so your first step to look in your website and to analyse if you have used proper Title ,description, Tags etc.You can easily find the method to do proper on page on Google.. After it , you need to look who all are you competitors and from where they are getting traffic, what all keywords they are ranking on. Once you finalized the keywords and understand the target audience then you can use back linking, blogs , articles etc as described by people above. The only thing you need to make sure , you should have activity list handy before you start doing SEO so that you can follow them religiously. SEO is a continuous process so you need to be patient and keep on doing efforts , I am sure you get start getting results. Dina Becerra • John- thanks for sharing your site. I've checked a few of my websites and there is a lot of useful information, including things I need to work on. Very much appreciated! Gokuldas K • Hello Maria, Taylor Pebley • I glanced through the comments and didn't see this mentioned: Pavan Pratap Singh • Certainly Page speed does matter. You need to make sure the coding of your website is done accordingly.Try avoiding Flash, Heavy files and long coding to get good page speed. John Clarke • Thank you Dina Becerra, glad to be able to help. Gjivan Shrestha • Providing value which indeed helps the needy community is the keypoint to become successful in any offline as well as online business. PAGE RANKING is just a part of it. So, quality content with consistency will definitely attract more readers which in turn increase the rank of your page as, frequent discussion, lengthy visit duration of a page, more social sharing are some factors determining the PAGE RANK and overall status of your site!! Martin Miller • Wow what a response Maria, what have you started?! Gjivan Shrestha • And yes definitely, page speed of a webpage also is a determinant factor, so if you are just starting up, i recommend you to use professional and seo friendly CMS platform; wordpress and theme; themes by genesis framework!! Good luck Gaurav Mishra • HI Maria How are you well please send me all the details regarding your website on my mail id that is ---- so that we can study and can understand your requirements and can work further with you. It will be our pleasure to work with you Thomas Sigmund Warda • Hey Maria...you shouldn't be focusing on a higher ranking....but rather on generating more revenue through your current website. srikanth chary • Welcome To Seo Filed Maria, first thing is maintain quality page rank submissions to get good traffic to your site and maintain a blog on your website with daily are weekly updates. Lee Benning • I haven't read everyone of the tips above, but here's 5 quick ones to get you going: Mark Kaplan • My sites are at the top of Google. My surf lesson page, for one, is on top and the source of my lessons. There are some rules. You could down load my Free E Book on Getting to Page One Google at http://MarkKKaplan.com Hazel O'Brian • Congrats Maria for your new site.. John McCarthy • Congratulations Maria, If you just started a business that means you have a lot to do. You could gather a lot of SEO advice (such as you are attempting here) and begin to put those suggestions into place but that will take a lot of your time so you will not be doing what you need to do for your business to succeed. Yes, SEO is one of those things that needs doing but the other things like, establishing a business plan and working it, establishing a corporate marketing plan and working it, establishing vendor services, establishing a customer/client database. There are way more things you should be spending time doing than you will be spending on SEO. So how do you succeed on the web when you are busy doing all those other things? Find and hire a trustworthy, dependable, hardworking 3rd party provider who knows what you need, understands your marketing plan and does nothing else but eat, sleep, live and die by their reputation as a web marketing provider. It may cost more than is comfortable up front but in the long run you will succeed and keep succeeding. Don't look for a cheap quick solution either, go for someone who takes the time to understand your needs and put a plan together to succeed. Good luck on your new business venture and good luck finding a reputable, hard working, no short cuts 3rd party web marketing vendor. Graham Freer • Sorry to butt into this conversation, but I, too, am new to what I had always considered to be one of the black arts! Mind if I look over your shoulder? Chad VanCalster • Graham, Gina Fiedel • Hi Maria, SEOHelpz .com • 1. Make sure your on page is done correctly , title , description , h1,h2 tags etc ete. Gjivan Shrestha • Nice advices to take.... But keep in mind, patience and determination is the foundation of every business before it worth a million dollar one!! John Clarke • María Cascante I also would recommend that you take a look at Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guidehttp://static.googleusercontent.com/external_content/untrusted_dlcp/www.google.com/en//webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf Mike Kristiansen • I took down a 3yr old site and rebuilt it a month ago, it was ranked by Alexa.com at just under 3 million and the bounce rate was quite high. I rebuilt the site on Wordpress and I've only added some of the old content after doing a rewrite. However, when I began syndicating content, the site jumped over 2 million sites, the average time spent on the site is sixteen minutes. This is a huge turnaround from the previous site.http://netmorenow.com Chad VanCalster • That's a great example, Mike. I'd love to hear about the changes you made and why you think they were the cause of benefit. Vikas Dhiman • SEO is subject in itself and you will come across blogs, forums, articles and more that talks about strategies, methods, do's and don'ts. We all have different perspective on how SEO should be done. As per my experience, it should be as natural as promoting a product in a normal manner. I believe that is what Google is looking for now. Like you all said unique content this is one part but where your links are coming from? How are you making them to make your presence? These things plays an important role too. I believe while doing SEO concentrate making links on High PR sites. It would take time but your patience will get its "Treat." Mike Kristiansen • Very good Vikas, linking authority sites to the website especially in-content is valuable. Your own unique content is important, but curating relevant content has proven to me to drive traffic and keep visitors on the site longer. It's hard for a website owner to come up with all their own unique content and then syndicate it. Adding curated content that keeps people on your site longer by enriching the overall experience I believe is a key factor to developing reader interest and becoming an authority site. Boaz Sasson | SEO | קידום אתרים • Funny how the threads started by young women get so many thoughtful replies...Whenever you try to spam or scam links, nothing gets a higher stick rate then a female persona. That is my tip for higher pagerank. chirag navsoft • Dear Maria , María Cascante • This is awesome!!! A lot of great advises! I have a lot to do now thanks to you! This is good! I really appreciate your help!!! Vikas Dhiman • I am practicing SEO like a habit now and have followed different methods on link building. Couple of years ago Google would not mind if we over optimize a keyword and even get a back link from low PR website but now, this practice does not work anymore. We need great content now, so the visitors come again and again to our website, get to link with us. For submissions also we need unique content with proper keyword density and it should be submitted on high PR relevant sites only. Guest Posts, Press Release, Squidoo Lens, Blog, Hub Page are some of the fine things where we can post our content and get back links. Rakesh Ojha • With latest Penguin updates in few weeks from Google, you can expect more firework. Vikas Dhiman • Yes Rajesh, its true even would like to add that Google has been telling us about the updates when it's going to be. Now, they won't be intimating us before updating so, we need to keep ourselves updated and understand what is required from us to get things right. Aamir Iqbal • create quality and unique content to your site. Google love those site which have quality and information content ..dnt forget to social media as well its help you to get direct traffic |
